Our Therapists
Megan Resig, MS, MT-BC
My journey into the field of music therapy was not a direct one. I began taking piano lessons at a very early age and continued into high school. When the time came to choose a career path, I was torn between going into the medical field, or pursuing music as a career. I knew that I needed music to be an active part of my life, and so that is what I chose. I went to Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY and received my bachelors degree in Piano Performance.
During the course of my work at Roberts, I couldn’t let go of my dream to be involved in a career that was focused on helping others. I stumbled upon music therapy accidentally as I was researching different music careers. I was hooked! I immediately applied to Nazareth College’s graduate music therapy program and in two years I was finishing my degree and starting my internship at Hochstein School of Music and Dance.
Currently, I work in Rochester, NY as a board-certified music therapist for both Hochstein School of Music and Dance as well as for a local private practice called “Time 4 Music”. Since Hochstein is a community music school, I have the wonderful opportunity to provide both group and individual services to a wide variety of populations and settings including school districts, adults and children with developmental disabilities, nursing homes, medical facilities, and adults with traumatic brain injury. I also provide adapted music lessons on a wide variety of instruments and modalities.

I am a board certified music therapist serving Portland, Oregon and the greater PDX area as well as the co-director of Mundana Music Therapy Services LLC. Currently, I provide services as a contract music therapist for the Children’s Cancer Association. There, I offer music therapy in hospital settings and satellite programs affiliated with CCA and its music Rx programming. In addition, I serve various group and individual clients across all settings through my private practice.
I received my bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Berklee College of Music and went on to complete my clinical training at Hochstein School of Music and Dance in Rochester, NY. I have worked as a full-time music therapist for several years in the community based, private practice, and school-based settings . I am a member of AMTA ( American Music Therapy Association), and have served as a clinical practicum supervisor for Nazareth College music therapy students. I enjoy contributing as an author/composer with our resource blog , and regularly present for local, state and national music therapy conferences, and I have recently joined the Oregon State Music Therapy Task force in 2011.
My passion for integrating new concepts, connecting with other providers, and finding ways to support one another in this hectic world has landed me right here with our Mundana Music Therapy Resource blog! Throughout my career, I transitioned from a performance based musician into a musician that sought to empower others through their own musical abilities. This was a seed in my personality that was nurtured by many wellness trainings and a love for working closely with people. I have additional training in EMI ( essential Music Intelligence) techniques and continue to seek out new and exciting ways to grow as a clinician. I am a joyful advocate for music therapy and its healing capacities, and invite you to become one as well!
